About

Structural Analysis is a fundamental third-year civil engineering course that equips students with the skills to determine the internal forces, moments, and deformations in structural systems. Building on the concepts from Statics and Strength of Materials, this course focuses on analyzing statically determinate and indeterminate structures under various loading conditions. Core topics include method of consistent deformations, force and displacement methods, moment distribution, slope-deflection equations, and matrix stiffness methods. Students also study the influence of moving loads, influence lines, and structural stability concepts. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of beams, frames, trusses, and continuous structures, with applications to real-life civil engineering projects such as bridges, buildings, and towers. The course balances manual analytical techniques with computer-aided structural analysis using professional software, reflecting modern engineering practice. Through lectures, problem-solving sessions, and design-oriented projects, students develop the ability to select appropriate analysis methods, interpret results, and ensure structural safety and serviceability. By the end of the course, students are prepared for advanced topics such as structural design, earthquake engineering, and structural dynamics, enabling them to make informed engineering decisions and contribute effectively to complex infrastructure projects.
